Business - Delivery - Security

For any organisation in today's world, there are 3 important goals:

Business: You need to bring business, which brings you money and is responsible for org growth.

Delivery: You should have a quality Client Delivery on TIME

Security: You should be secured and maintain all your data, assets (clients') safe

Unfortunately, as I write this there are several business units who say, for me Business is important. And some client delivery managers say, Delivering the deliverable is important to me and our Cyber guys say Securing the company is important to me.

So, are these three pouches of a carom board? Are these 3 goals of a company which pulls each other in its own direction?

Have you not noticed a difference of opinion when you talk to a person engaged with business, a person who is responsible for delivering the business and person who is trying to protect the business assets and data. At least in many organisations?

Lets take an example of a company called "Imaginary_Company"

CEO of Imaginary_company wants his employee to get more business

One of the employee called "WhoamI" does his research and decides to meet one of the client called "Iamtheclient"

While he is doing his documentation on his company provided device, his device under goes a patching cycle and requires him to reboot his device. He immediately escalates to the white glove technician and suppresses the reboot.

While he goes for a submission of his documentation prior travel, he gets frustrated with the physical security for which it is getting delayed for him and he had to spend some time.

We see similar scenarios in our everyday IT life, don't we?

“Most of all, differences of opinion are opportunities for learning.” ― Terry Tempest Williams

Great personalities say, difference of opinion are the opportunity for learning.

Yes, when each member in any industry is working for self and company's growth, how can the goals be different?
Business, Delivery and Security are not 3 pouches on the carom board, but 3 pillars for any organisation and business.

If you need to bring business, You should promise the clients that your delivery will be on time and at the same & importantly your assets are secured.

And If you need to deliver a quality deliverable for the business, your channel for the delivery and assets must be secured

If you want to protect your organisations' assets and if you need investments to protect assets, you should help business and client deliveries to be on time and at the same time, securing them.

I will ask you again, Business - Delivery - Security, are these 3 pouches of the carom board?
