Why Will I be Hacked?

In my previous blog, I said even if you are a home maker, you should worry  about Cyber Security and protected from cyber criminals. Few people asked me WHY? and some common questions were-
Why would someone wants to hack me?
Why would someone wants to trick me?
I am not a billionaire nor I own some secret information about some secret government data. How can someone make money out of hacking me?

If you are working in a corporate company or in a company where your co-workers talk about cyber or cyber crimes, I don't have to answer or you wouldn't have asked the above question, you already know the answer.
But, if you are not working or if you are working in a world of remote site with no knowledge of cyber world or if it is your sister holding a phone and taking a selfie on the top of a mountain, or if it your aunt using Alexa for her house hold work, or if it is your friend or father or mother or any relative using a google home or a smart refrigerator or printer or a smart watch or anything that runs with the help of a small computer, I need to answer all of them.

Well, before I being to answer any of my question, few questions to all of you out there who has those question to me-
How many of you get a call and no one talks? or even if someone talks it is an automated message? or you are being called for an unwanted stupid add when you are grilling your favorite food?
How many of you get an email saying you have won a lottery of 1 million dollars or 5 - 10 digit money? Have you by any chance observed your computer behaving odd? or your network being very slow though you have a good internet connection at home? Or how many of you think your mobile bill is more than what you are using?
If you are one of them with any/ all of the above, my dear friends, YOU are the victims. If not yet, you will be targeted.
Anything in today's world has a money value.
Your information out there in the internet world- They all have a value. Be it for some cruel cyber bad guy or some stupid boys who wants to make memes out of it? or to some good guys who are researching on something and wants to buy your data from the dark web (this a part of the World Wide Web that is only accessible by means of special software, allowing users and website operators to remain anonymous or untraceable).
Your email IDs, your phone numbers, all the products that you use at home or office, all your activities including and not limited to enjoying at a restaurant/ beach/ bar/ religious places, anything and everything related to you and your relatives leads to direct or indirect money/ wealth; They just need to know how to use it.

Let me tell you all a recent incident that happened to one of my dearest friend.
She got a call from a reputed company. She was searching for a job and she got one. She was asked a bunch of questions and there she goes, she got selected for a reputed role in a reputed company. (How easy it was, she must have felt.) But you know what, when she called the actual number of the actual company, she was devastated, No One called her or No one hired her.
She was asked by the phone caller to report to an office address. Who knows what that office is? She never turned up and blocked the caller. Of-course I spoke to her.

So my dear readers and all dearest people to my dearest readers, it is MY Responsibility, YOUR responsibility, to spread a caution to all our near and dear ones to be aware of cyber crimes/ thefts and cyber criminals.
No one is neglected or left behind in this war and theft.

No matter where you are, where you work, if you are in a corporate world or you are a cyber or non cyber security guy,  term it as a social responsibility or term it as a personnel responsibility or any X responsibility,  please wear a WHITE hat and help us to fight against Cyber Crime.
